About Safair

Safair is a cargo and aircraft chartering company, operating both leases for aircraft and crew services. In addition, the company also provide flight crew training which includes medical and safety training, aircraft maintenance and modification services and general support. The company was founded in 1965 as an airline charter company, where it was known as Tropair. It changed its name to Safair Freighters in 1970 where it remained serving regional cargo markets until 1991 when they redshifted their focus to leasing and chartering operations.

Safair’s niche offering is its Humanitarian Aid and relief operations, with agencies such as the United Nations and the World Food Programme. It operates from its base in O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Safair launched a subsidiary in 2013, a low-cost airline called FlySafair.

O.R. Tambo International Airport
