About Laudamotion
Laudamotion, previously Amira Air, is an Austrian airline that operates scheduled passenger services throughout Europe. The airline was founded in 2004 and is based at Vienna International Airport (VIE). Laudamotion has a route network that flies over 60 routes to more than 40 destinations.
Under the name Amira air, Laudamotion was founded in 2004 and initially operated as a charter airline flying internationally from Vienna. In 2016, ex FormulaOne World Driver champion Niki Lauda bought out the company and renamed the airline Laudamotion. After continuing to run charter flights for a short period of time, the airline moved to its current base at Vienna International to begin scheduled passenger flights. In early 2018, Niki, an airline that had associations with Niki Lauda retired, and as a result, Laudamotion airline acquired all of Niki's operations, as well as 15 aircraft. In August 2018, Ryanair announced the acquisition of 75% of the shareholding for Laudamotion. Shortly thereafter, the airline announced that it had fully taken control of Laudamotion airlines, making it one of three airlines' wholly owned by Ryanair, along with Ryanair Sun and Ryanair UK.
Laudamotion Baggage
Carry-on Baggage
Passengers flying on Laudamotion are entitled to one item of free carry-on baggage, included in the price of their ticket. The hang baggage must not exceed the dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20 cm. The maximum weight of carry-on baggage will depend on which class ticket you buy and the route that you're flying, so make sure you check when you're booking. If baggage exceeds the maximum weight or dimensions, Laudamotion has the right to charge a fee for excess baggage.
Checked Baggage
Passengers flying on Laudamotion are entitled to one item of free checked baggage included in the price of their ticket. Weight and size limit will depend on which class ticket you buy and which route you're flying, however, for all passengers flying on Laudamotion, no single piece of baggage can exceed 32kg.
Excess Baggage
Laudamotion airlines offers passengers the opportunity to purchase excess and special baggage for a fee.
Laudamotion Check-In Information
Online Check-In
Laudamotion passengers can check in online for their flights using the Laudamotion and Ryanair website which can be done in English. This opens 60 days prior to departure when purchasing a seat or if they have a Flexi Plus ticket. If passengers are not reserving a seat, Laudamotion online check-in will be from 48 hours in advance, where seats will be randomly allocated to you. Online check-in will close 2 hours prior to flight departure.
Airport Check-In
For passengers who don’t have access to check-in online, passengers must report to the airport desk to check-in in person with airport staff. Please note there will be an airport check-in fee if passengers do not check-in online.
