Ellinair Check-in Information

Online check-in

Ellinair passengers can check in 48 hours before the scheduled departure time. Online check-in closes three hours prior to flight departure. Online check-in is currently only available for flights departing from the following airports SKG, ATH, HER, RHO, JTR, JMK, CFU, KVA, SVO, VKO, KBP, FRA, MUC, STR and TXL.

Airport check-in

Airport check-in is available from two hours before the scheduled departure time. The airport check-in desk closes 40 minutes before the flight departure.

 


Ellinair Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

The maximum weight for carry-on baggage on Ellinair flights is 8kg (for all ticket fares). The maximum dimensions for carry-on bags are 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. Passengers are also permitted to bring one small personal item, as long as it fits under the seat in front of you. 

Checked Baggage

The free baggage allowance for all ticket fares is 20kg with maximum dimensions of no more than 158cm (62in). Infants are entitled to one piece of luggage weighing no more than 10kg. On domestic flights and those traveling to and from Germany, students are permitted a special baggage allowance of 30kg when flying with Ellinair.

Ellinair look to fly over a million passengers to Greece in 2018

Following a highly successful Q1 in 2018, Greek airline Ellinair have announced their expectations to fly over one million passengers by the end of 2018. 

 

Ellinair have reported that between January and April 2018, the airline carried a total of 137,992 passengers. In the same period of 2017, the airline only carried 88,123 passengers. This means that Ellinair can proudly state they flew 58% more passengers year-on-year.  Ellinair ran 1,257 flights between January and April 2018, while they only operated 949 in comparison to the same period of 2017. 

 

Ellinair director, Stavros Daliakas, stated that this progress in the early stages of 2018 is in line with their plans to carry 1,061,029 passengers in 2018, which is a targeted 34% increase from total number of passengers that flew with Ellinair in 2017.

 

10th May 2018

Ellinair to start service between Athens and Rhodes

From June—October Ellinair will fly a direct service between Athens and Rhodes, three times a week. Passengers will fly between Athens International Airport (ATH) and Rhodes International Airport (RHO) on the Boeing 737-300 aircraft. The journey is expected to take 50 minutes.

 

Speaking on the matter, Ellinair CEO, Ioannis Mouzenidis, stated "Our aim is to meet the needs of visitors and the residents of Rhodes." He continued that the local authorities and travel communites have requested for more routes like this to improve people's ability to travel around more.

 

3rd May 2018

Ellinair to undertake four new routes this summer

The Greek carrier will run seasonal services that will allow for new connections between Greece and Eastern Europe.

 

  • The first service will be between Chania International Airport (CHQ) and Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO), Moscow. The service will run three times weekly from 3rd May—7th October 2018 and will operate with the Airbus A320 aircraft.

 

  • The second service will fly between Corfu International Airport (CFU) and Strigino International Airport (GOJ), Nizhniy Novgorod. The service will run once every 10—11 days from 1st June—5th October 2018 and will operate with the Boeing 737-300 aircraft. 

 

  • Another service added to Ellinair's schedule is a route between Heraklion International Airport (HER) and Cluj International Airport (CLJ). The flight will operate from 29th May—25th September once a week and passengers will be carried on the Boeing 737-300 jet.

 

  • The final service that Ellinair will operate this summer will fly between Heraklion International Airport (HER) and Poznan—Ławica Airport (POZ). The service will operate from 3rd June—30th September 2018 once a week and passengers will fly on the Boeing 737-300 aircraft.

Greek carrier Ellinair will expand their fleet considerably in 2018

General director of Greek tour operator Muzenidis Travel, Alexander Tsandekidi, has stated that airline Ellinair will expand the number of aircraft they fly with throughout this year.

 

The Greek airline will bring in an additional ten aircraft consisting of models A320, A319, and B737. These jets will help operate their 2018 schedule which currently consists of domestic services to eight Greek destinations, as well as a number of international options too.

Greece's Ellinair to consolidate Moscow ops from 2Q18

Ellinair (EL, Thessaloniki) has announced it will consolidate its Moscow operations around Moscow Sheremetyevo during the Summer 2018 season.

Airline Route has reported that effective late May through to late October, Ellinair would serve Sheremetyevo from Heraklion, Kavala, and Rhodes using B737-400/A320 equipment.

Ellinair currently serves Sheremetyevo from each of Athens Int'l, Kerkyra, and Thessaloniki.

Ellinair is owned by one of Greece's largest tour operators, Mouzenidis Travel, and specializes in scheduled flights between Greece and Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Latvia, Turkey, and Georgia. This summer season, Ellinair also operates from/to Moscow Vnukovo.

Greek Airline Ellinair to Repatriate Russian Tourists Stranded in Greece

Greece’s Ellinair airline company has said it is ready to return at its own expense stranded passengers of Russian VIM-Avia that declared charter flights suspension due to the lack of floating assets, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency said.

“The Greek airline company Ellinair has said it is ready to transport VIM-Avia charter flight passengers at its own expense,” the agency said.

On Tuesday, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said Greek companies can join efforts to repatriate stranded customers of VIM-Avia. According to him, Greek companies are interested in bringing home Russian tourists who arrived in Greece for holidays on VIM-Avia planes. He said the Transport Ministry “will meet them half-way” in this.

On Monday, VIM-Avia, Russia’s tenth largest carrier, announced plans to suspend charter flights over its financial problems. Other Russian airlines may help perform the company’s flights to socially important destinations in the Far East.

The airline company obliged to transport more than 200,000 passengers before the end of this year.

Ellinair, the Greek low-cost airline, announced new flights that will allow Georgian travellers to spend the summer in some of Greece’s most exotic resorts.

This summer Ellinair will perform flights on the route Heraklion-Tbilisi-Heraklion that will connect Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi to the administrative capital of the island of Crete. Flights will be performed once a week on Thursdays from June 15 to September 14. Also, passengers will be able to use the Thessaloniki-Tbilisi-Thessaloniki route that will link Tbilisi to the Greek port city from May 18 to September 14. The flights will be performed twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.

Ellinair, based at Macedonia International Airport, received permission to launch the above mentioned flights from Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency on April 13, 2017.
