The airline originally operated as a business jet service and the airline’s hub is Orak Ak Zhol Airport in West Kazakhstan.
Bek Air's fleet includes 8 Fokker 100, 3 Airbus A340-300 and from February 2017, Bek Air has announced an additional frequent flight to Aktau, Shymkent flying every Tuesday.

Oral Ak Zhol Airport is based in Kazakhstan and located 12km of Oral and south of the Oral River.
The airport is small with parking for 4 jets and two terminals (Domestic and international). The airport serves the nearby town of Aksai, serving the majority of Ak Zhol passengers. There is a frequent bus and taxi service at the airport.

Bek Air part of Kazakh airline fleet growth
October 2018 may mark Kazakhstan as the first country with aircraft from all three families of new generation single aisle re-engined aircraft. Air Astana became one of the first A320neo operators in 2016, and later this year will become one of the first Embraer E190-E2 operators. Kazakhstan’s second largest airline, SCAT, took delivery of its first 737 MAX 8 at the end of Mar-2018. For all three new aircraft types to be operating in Kazakhstan represents a major transformation, given that the market has historically been dominated by ageing aircraft and Russian models. Kazakhstan became independent in 1991, but for years its airlines continued to operate Soviet era aircraft.
Change began with Air Astana, which has only ever operated Western aircraft in its 16-year history and took its first new aircraft nearly 10 years ago. SCAT has been on the scene for 2 decades but only phased out its last Russian aircraft in 2016, and the 737 MAX 8 marks the first time the airline has ever taken delivery of a new Western aircraft.

Bek Air aircraft makes an emergency landing, safely and securely
Kazakhstan's low-cost air carrier, Bek Air, which was flying passengers between Alma-Ata and Atyrau, made an emergency landing in Taraz due to an issue regarding the pressurisation system. This was reported by the general director of the airline, Syrym Omarzhanov. There were 106 passengers on board at the time, including 5 children. The pilot made the executive decision to interrupt their corse, putting the safety of the passengers first by descending to a safe altitude and landing in Taraz. The passengers were provided with a replace airplane to finish their journey with Bek air. The defunct aircraft in question was taken to Almaty for further maintenance and assessment.

Bek Air is in the process of rebranding itself as Halyk Air (Z9, Almaty) with the transition expected to be completed by the end of the year. Halyk ("Халық" in Kazakh) means 'People' and reflects the airline's resolve to reposition itself as "The Airline of the People".

Bek Air announced an aircraft operated by Bek Air was detained at Astana airport for fifteen hours due to safety and technical reasons
The Fokker 100 UP-F1009 operating as scheduled flight Z9-2013 on the route Almaty-Astana-Aktobe returned to Astana following a failure to lock the landing gear after takeoff. The carrier performed a safety check and decided to ferry the aircraft back to its base at Almaty, however this flight was banned by the Astana Airport Police Department, acting on behalf of the Kazakh Main Transport Prosecutor's Office.
