About Amaszonas

Amaszonas, (also known as the official name of Línea Aérea Amaszonas) is a Bolivian based airline, headquartered in La Paz, Bolivia. It currently operates scheduled and chartered short-haul passenger flights throughout the northern and northeastern regions of the country as well as to neighboring Peru, with its network's hub being located at El Alto International Airport.

The airline was founded on 1 October 1998, but flight services were only commenced in 2000. Initially only operating chartered services using a small fleet of turboprop aircraft, it grew in 2012 and acquired larger aircraft offing scheduled passengers services. In late 2014 they announced their intentions to lease 9 CRJ200 aircraft to expand their regional network even more so.

The Bolivian airline flies to destinations across Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Destinations included the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires, Cochabamba, Oruro, Sucre, Tarija, Uyuni (all located in Bolivia), Montevideo (Uruguay) and Cuiaba (Brazil) amongst other destinations. It is believed that by the end of 2017, Amaszonas wil offer 40 destinations on their route network across both scheduled and chartered services. After the bankruptcy of Alas Uruguay, the airline is one of the few airlines left offering services to Montevideo.

Amaszonas currently only operate using one type of aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-200. In total they have 9 aircraft in their fleet, each with a maximum passenger capacity of 50 passengers. It is also believed that Línea Aérea Amaszonas have an additional aircraft on order.
