About Airnorth
Airnorth is a regional airline in Australia which was founded in 1978. The airline operates scheduled and charter services to destinations in the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia, with an extension to East Timor. Airnorth is now the major aviation operator in Northern Australia.
The company operates over 300 scheduled RPT and charter departures weekly, servicing over 20 destinations across four countries. Including Darwin, Maningrida, Milingimbi, Elcho Island, Gove [Nhulunbuy], Groote Eylandt and McArthur River in the Northern Territory, Kununurra, Broome, Port Hedland and Perth in Western Australia, Townsville, Cairns and Mount Isa in Queensland and Dili in Timor-Leste.
Airnorth carries in excess of 300,000 passengers annually. In addition to scheduled departures, Airnorth operates contract and ad-hoc charter services for a wide variety of companies undertaking mining, defence and government activity.
Airnorth is a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. Passengers are able to earn and redeem Qantas Points (conditions apply) on Airnorth flights.
Airnorth's main base is Darwin International Airport, with a hub at Maningrida Airport.

Carry-on Baggage
Passengers baggage allowance is dependent on the plane flying in. Passengers flying with Airnorth on an aircraft with 19 or less seats will be required to check-in all baggage excluding a small, soft handbag.
Passengers travelling on the E170 Jet are permitted 9kg of hand luggage, with the maximum dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23cm.
Passengers travelling on the E120 Brasilia are permitted 4kg of hand luggage, with the maximum dimensions of 48 x 34 x 21cm.
Passengers travelling on the Metroliner 23 are permitted small, soft handbags only.
Checked Baggage
Passengers travelling on the E170 Jet are permitted 20kg of checked luggage, unless connecting to a smaller aircraft.

Airnorth does not currently offer passengers a service for online check-in.
Airport Check-In
Airnorth passengers must check in for their flights at the airport. The check-in desk will open 2 hours before departure for all domestic and international flights.
For passengers flying domestically, passengers must check-in at least 60 minutes prior to departure.
For passengers flying internationally, passengers must check-in at least 90 minutes prior to departure.

Airnorth Hub Airport
Darwin International Airport
Darwin International Airport is the busiest airport serving the Northern Territory and the 10th most busy airport in Australia. It is the only airport serving Darwin.
The airport is located in the capital of the Northern Territory, Darwin, northern suburbs, 8km (5.0mi) from the city centre in the suburb of Mararra. It shares runways with the Royal Australian Air Force's RRAF base.
Darwin Airport has an international terminal servicing one international location, a domestic terminal and a cargo terminal. Both of the passenger terminals have a number of shops and cafeterias, although none are very inspiring and all are wallet-crippling. In 2011 the airport served 26,036 flights and 1,743,734 passengers.
Darwin International Airport also operates services for a number of airlines include Virgin Australia, SilkAir, Jetstar Airways and Donghai Airlines.
Airnorth Charter Flights
Airnorth’s contract charter services extend through the Top End of Australia and to Southeast Asia and form 40% of Airnorth’s revenue. Airnorth has been operating charters for 30 years, with the highest quality equipment, in the hands of the best aircrew. Airnorth’s contract and RPT air services complement one another, with significant cost and operational benefits to all customers. The ability to combine the two provides increased aircraft utilisation, interchange and backup that most operators cannot achieve. Many of Airnorth’s services to Top End communities overlap with contract destinations.
The Embraer 170, 120 and Metroliner 23 are available for contract and ad-hoc charter. Destinations include Dili (Timor-Leste), Manila (Philippines), Truscott, Port Hedland, Port Keats (Wadeye) and McArthur River. Airnorth’s infrastructure includes a purpose-built 3,500m² hangar at Darwin, all maintenance services, with all communications, IT systems and ground service equipment.

Airnorth secures mine contract extension
Air North, Australia's second oldest airline has retained a contract to provide chartered air services to Glencore’s McArthur River Mine following a competitive tender process. McArthur River Mine is about 970km southeast of Darwin and 60km southwest of its closest township, Borroloola. It has held the contract for the previous 10 years, providing services to Glencore in the early 1990s with a 210 Cessna. The service has since been replaced with a jet service. The five-year extension was awarded following a detailed tender process. The signing of the contract extension highlights Glencore’s confidence in the capability of Territorians to service large mining contracts, according to Airnorth. MRM general manager Sam Strohmayr said the company was proud to be able to continue its tradition of supporting local businesses.
“In 2017, we contributed $370 million to the economy with a significant proportion of that being spent here in the Territory through 500 individual companies,” Strohmayr said. “Airnorth is a key partner in our business, supporting not only our operation but also the community of the Gulf region. We’re delighted that this excellent service will continue.” MRM is Airnorth’s largest contract charter client, requiring the most services and highest number of passengers uplifted per year. Airnorth chief executive Daniel Bowden was thrilled to announce the extension, explaining that it not only confirmed MRM’s confidence in Airnorth and the state-of-the-art aircraft involved, but highlighted the appreciation held for the transport services Airnorth has provided in Australia for many years.
“This contract extension will now mean that since the mine commenced operations in the early 90’s that Airnorth have provided air services for 24 of the 32 years they will have been operating,” he said. “It’s a testament to Airnorth’s ability to service large mining and resource companies in some of Australia’s most challenging environments. We continue to do that, year in and year out, primarily due to the commitment and skills of our staff whom provide excellence in safety, on-time performance and outstanding customer service. “McArthur River mine and Airnorth have grown up side by side and it remains part of Airnorth’s DNA, as it has since 1991.”
The possibility remains for an expansion of services, pending approval for the current Environmental Impact Statement for MRM.

Airnorth signs Interline Agreement with Hahn Air
Air North has signed an internline agreement with Hahn Air.
The next airline to benefit from Hahn Air’s HR-169 product is the Australian scheduled carrier Airnorth (TL).The interline agreement with Hahn Air gives Airnorth the opportunity to sell its flights in secondary markets where it does not participate in the local settlement systems (IATA BSPs worldwide, resp. ARC in the US). Travel agents worldwide can issue tickets for Airnorth’s regional flights on the Hahn Air HR-169 document in the Amadeus GDS using the standard ticketing process.
Airnorth is a major aviation operator in Northern Australia. From its base at Alice Springs Airport (ASP) it serves 18 destinations in two countries. Next to domestic airports in the Northern Territory and in Western Australia, it also flies to Dili in Timor-Leste with an all-Embraer fleet of nine aircraft
