Air Arabia Celebrate 15 Years of Operations with New Branding

Air Arabia recently held a ceremony to commemorate 15 years of operating flights in the Middle East and North Africa. The most notable part of the ceremony was when Air Arabia unveiled a brand new airline livery on one of its Airbus A320 aircraft which revealed new branding for the airline.

The ceremony was held at Sharjah International Airport and press were able to view the new aircraft livery and interior design through a live display. Air Arabia launched back in 2003 and today serves over 155 routes with a fleet of more than 53 aircraft.

Air Arabia's Chairman, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohamed Al Thani commented that the ceremony was a chance to celebrate the success that Air Arabia has seen in its 15 years of operations. He mentioned that 15 years ago, connecting people in the region at an affordable cost was just an idea. Today, that idea is now a reality. And having carried over 80 million passengers in its time of operation, one would expect that the Air Arabia's success has far exceeded expectations.

Air Arabia plans 100-Jet agreement for Airbus A320s or Boeing 737s

It may be a big year for Air Arabia.Their expansion could see the largest Low Cost Carrier (LCC) in the Gulf and North Africa order 100 narrow-body planes worth $11 billion (Dh40.39 billion) at list prices before the end of the year. The airline hasn’t yet reached a decision but the figure is a ball-park estimate that the Chief Executive Officer, Adel Ali, confirms is roughly accurate. Air Arabia currently operates a fleet of 50 Airbus SE A320 jets and is looking at the upgraded Neo version, while also seriously considering Boeing Co.’s rival 737 Max, Ali said. Bombardier Inc.’s C Series plane is also in the running as the carrier moves to renew its fleet after full-year profit jumped 29 per cent in 2017 to a record Dh631 million ($171 million).

The Sharjah-based airlines is rebounding from a period of overcapacity and lower yields in the Middle East, as the low oil price weighed on Gulf economies and concerns about terrorism in North African nations hurt their tousim sector. Air Arabia carried 8.5 million people in 2017 and reports that a 7% growth rate in the number of passengers is a goal that they would like to see achieved by the end of this year. Air Arabia's Morocco and Egypt markets are said to be those improving the fastest.
